Aug. 19, 2011 American politicians love to call the US The World Leader. Naturally, the ordinary American citizenry loves to hear this. The problem is, at the moment, the badly supervised US Congress is leading a stampede toward the proverbial cliff. As a world leader it leads not only the American nation toward disaster but a number of West European countries. If the whole lot goes over the cliff, the result will be the largest economic catastrophe the world has ever seen. Is this disaster avoidable? YESSSSS! You may ask, how? First of all, let´s look at China and some of the other economies, which are placidly growing at healthy 6 %. Yes, the economies of Brazil, India, Australia, Chile, all of Latin America and most Asian countries have growing economies and are stable. But if the US, Germany, Greece, Spain and Portugal go over the cliff, they will drag the rest of the world down. China, who has been the US banker for the last few years has bluntly told the US, "You must drastically reduce your spending. Mr, Putin, in Russia commented, "The US is living beyond its means. Both have been politely restrained. They should have said: Stop your absurd, demented irrational spending on the military and wars all over the place! If Obama firmly said, "We're cutting our military budget by 50% in the next twelve months, Like magic, the stampede would slow down. If he added, 20% of the savings will be invested into developing advanced industries, the stampede would stop. What happens if the US does go over the cliff? As the dollar becomes worthless, we can expect: Massive unemployment, Bankruptcies galor emillions of homeless or squatters, collapse of social services, widespread hunger. serious civil unrest, If the government and US Congress fails to represent it's citizens and continues coddling the war machine the American people will have to stand up and say, enough!. Recently, I witnessed a pots and pans demonstration. This is an elegant way to tell the rulers that enough is enough. It only requires a pot and a spoon or ladle. One does not need to leave one´s house. Just open a window and start banging.
The way it's done. Through social media agree on a time ( 9 PM is popular). The noise from such a demonstration is spectacular. Politicians can´t ignore this form of voting. The results are immediate and known to everyone within hearing distance. It is peaceful but potent. When millions bang pots together, it brings fear into a politico´s heart.
