Aug. 31, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Now available for the first time on Amazon United Kingdom are DIY maverick Deborah Dolen's “how to” books and “Do-it-Yourself” videos. Ms. Dolen’s work is taught in many schools in the United Kingdom as many formulas apply to math, science, and measuring systems. Her books range from making candles to making body lotion, healing salves, to natural cleaning methods. All media shares the common thread of using natural resources and avoiding chemicals when possible. All of Deborah Dolen’s books offer metric as well as U.S. systems of measurement. “The learning models are really designed to increase self esteem” says the author, who has produced books and films from Downtown London. “Many of my recipes and formulas are also taught in the Canadian school systems and pharmacy universities in the states.” Much of Dolen’s 27 books are no longer available in hard copy which caused her hard copies to be rare and command hundreds of dollars over the last few years on Amazon globally. More valuable are copies the author signed from year 2000 to 2006. “It does not make much sense to try to compete on a global level with hard copies anymore…but the new technology of DTP almost flew right over my head.” Dolen added. Ms. Dolen is also the author of The London Apothecary, a book describing her charming stay on Gracechurch across from the Leadenhall Market and natural healing formulas and recipes she developed during a tour of Napier Culpepper. “I was in London during the Napier Culpepper merger” and everything went quite smooth, I had a great time” said Dolen. “I learned a lot regarding holistic care, and I learned much in the SoHo District of London also. I miss the U.K. dearly.” Another one of Deborah Dolen’s favorite books now on Amazon U.K. is The Beekeepers Digest. Ms. Dolen wrote the Beekeeper’s Digest in lieu of an internship she could not attend on Mercy Africa, before Mercy Africa retired. She was to attend a three month internship on Mercy Africa just after she was done filming in London. Mercy Ships are also based in London. “I caught pneumonia filming in the snow in downtown London and could not attend. I had to return to Florida and recover with my Golden Retriever Ringo, who was newly adopted from Katrina and hit by a truck while I was away. We were both laid up for weeks. I direly wanted to teach people in 3rd world countries what products they could make with raw bee materials and I would have been able to be a resident with one of the world’s most famous beekeepers, but it never worked out. It would have been a life changing experience for me also and service work I waited ten years to get accepted to do with Mercy Ships. Very sad I was too sick during that time. So I produced a book and video and sent that.” “To be empowered to make balm, healing sales, and a candle all from one piece of wax is awesome, I think.
