Oct. 28, 2012 In a previous article, we have called for General Ham to step down because of his failure to act in Libya. Apparently now, General Ham told Congressman Jason Chaffetz that the forces were available, but that no order to use them was given. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta had claimed that the refusal to use force had come from him, General Dempsey and General Ham. Secretary Panetta was using the Sergeant Schultz defense when confronted by evidence that "I knew nothing". During a rescue operation intel is always going to be limited but there was actually plenty of intel that we are aware of even in declassified documents.
Carter Ham is taking no responsibility for the decision not to bail out the consulate and the Navy SEALS, which President Obama said, "The minute I found out what was going on, I gave three very clear directives -- Number 1, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to." According to the 4 star General, Carter Ham, the President is lying.
