Chief Dompig: Baiting His Hook

By Patrick Hurley
Mar. 26, 2006

The Deputy Chief of Aruba went on CBS television Saturday night and sent out a message to anyone related to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. From Joran and Paulus Van der Sloot down to those who may have helped bury her body, Dompig made an intriguing pronouncement essentially saying, "We believe that Natalee died from an overdose of drugs and alcohol. So, if there is anyone out there who knows what happened to her after that, there has been no crime committed and if you come forward, you will not be charged."

Very clever.

Enough to fool a four year-old child.

But, woefully lacking in the attempt to trip up those who were involved. In fact, when informed of Dompig's comments, Joran Van der Sloot had to stifle his hysterical laughter. He quickly dismissed the Chief's theory that Natalee Holloway was on drugs of any kind and said she wasn't even that drunk. He wasn't taking the bait. Dompig moves his pawn and Joran quickly captures it with his Queen. Soon, it will be checkmate and the Aruban police force will be back where they started at square one.

With his sly smile and charming accent, Chief Dompig went on to say that he believes Natalee is still on the island. The burial place is up by the lighthouse, possibly in the sand dunes. Which leads to the most critical question everyone has been asking since the early morning she went missing....

WHERE is she?

How do you get rid of a body so effectively? Especially, in the middle of the night when you are in a state of panic. According to Dompig, no boats went out on the sea that time of night. So, how do you evaporate the body of a human being? Feed it to sharks? Bury it really deep down into the earth? Acid? Shredder? Cremation? Or....ship her off to another country, dead or alive?

That is what is keeping this mystery alive. Not Beth Twitty. Not Greta Van Sustern. Not the media outlets. It is the illogical and unfathomable mystery here. WHERE is she? This is not the first missing person that captivated Americans. Judge Crater ring a bell? The Lindbergh baby? Amelia Earhart? There are mysteries and then there are MYSTERIES! This one is a doozie.

Someone out there KNOWS her final resting place. Someone out there will come forward. Someday. Maybe not for a long time. But, someday. However, they will not come because Dompig has convinced them there was no crime, because anyone who was involved in taking Natalee and made her disappear KNEW there was a crime of some kind. That means they will be liable. They are not going to fall for the Chief's trap.

And, either way, Aruba wins. If no one comes forward, this case will be closed as an accidental death because the Dompig has concluded it that way. Business as usual will go on from there. If someone does have a conscience out there and it is finally revealed that Natalee was buried at sea or on the land, the case will still be closed for lack of evidence. All we can hope for now is where her final resting place was that fatal night. There will be no justice here, just some informational closure, at the most.

All because we may be dealing with multiple sociopaths here and not just one. They are all laughing tonight at a Chief of Police who believes he is going to solve this crime.

Bet on the sociopaths.
